A Warm and Welcoming Family Community
NUA fosters a warm and closely knit community. Families from all over north San Diego County experience fun and fellowship at a variety of event throughout the year, such as bingo and movie nights; and at fundraising events, like the jog-a-thon and move-a-thon.
Below are additional school events where friendships are formed very quickly!
We emphasize citizenship with student-of-the-month assemblies each month. These are bilingual assemblies at which time each teacher shares something extraordinary that a student has done and recognizes that student. Students of the month are recognized for academic achievements, work ethic, kindness to classmates, perseverance, and anything else a teacher may notice.
NUA hosts family nights where students and family members can come together to meet other families in our school community and bond together while participating in educational activities related to areas of study, such as science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
Field trips are an important part of our K-8 program. Students all attend traditional grade-level field trips as well as smaller incidental field trips throughout the year. Beginning in kindergarten, students go to the Wild Animal Park; all the way up to eighth grade at which time students go to the Museum of Tolerance. Students learn about Native Americans at the Carlsbad Lagoon and early U.S. History at the Maritime Museum. Sixth graders attend camp; fifth graders go to JA Biztown; and fourth graders visit missions.
